Young people are at their breaking point. Rent is skyrocketing. Student debt is piling up. Jobs that match our degrees are nowhere to be found. And just paying for groceries is enough to empty our bank accounts, putting the prospect of ever owning a home further out of reach. All the while, the climate crisis rages on around us— torching our futures while those in power pay lip service to “climate action.”
But we’re not being squeezed by accident. We’re being squeezed by design. Three phone companies jack up our cell phone bills. Grocery prices mysteriously rise in proximity to campuses. And year after year, university administrators hike our tuition costs.
We’re told that we’re too “apathetic,” “disengaged” or “distracted” to fight for change. But from Palestine solidarity encampments to climate strikes to student walk-outs in solidarity with striking teachers and trans students, everywhere you turn, we’re leading movements that are upending the status quo. Young people are a force to be reckoned with. We refuse to let a handful of billionaires foreclose on our shared future.
On Wednesday, December 3rd at 5pm PT | 8pm ET, join Karishma Porwal (aka. Karishma Climate Girl), Armaan Singh, and Avi Lewis for our second Solidarity Session on Building Youth Power, hosted by Bushra Asghar and Rosa Wang. We’ll talk about the challenges confronting young people today, how youth are resisting the status quo, and how we can bring young people back into the NDP by going head-to-head with those foreclosing on our shared future— the billionaire class and their political allies.
More than a conversation, this Solidarity Session is a call to action. A space to gather with hundreds of fed up young people to turn our collective rage into power. Join the movement for an NDP that serves the many, not the money.
