Canada is at a crossroads. We face a climate emergency that demands immediate, decisive action, yet the government continues to fund the very industry driving the crisis. It is indefensible to provide billions of public dollars in handouts to some of Canada’s most profitable corporations while ordinary Canadians face the everyday emergency of just trying to get by.
The science is clear: there can be no new fossil fuel projects on a livable planet. So why is our government funding new pipelines and ploughing subsidies to oil and gas giants?
Instead, we can redirect those billions into a just transition. We can invest in skills training and renewable energy infrastructure, creating good-paying green jobs and ensuring no worker or community is left behind.
To build a cleaner, more prosperous Canada, the federal government must immediately eliminate all subsidies for fossil fuel production and halt new fossil fuel infrastructure projects and development. Add your name if you agree.
